Our alumni serve as excellent advocates for promoting our mission, having experienced our transformative process and gained a profound understanding of the value of belonging to our unique community.
In June, we sent our first alumni delegates – Blerta, Issam and Nava – to high schools in Germany to demonstrate what is possible when young people live and learn together. In Hamburg, several hundred German students across six schools were introduced to stories of friendship and connections, narratives seldom associated with Israel in today’s discourse.
Here are some of their reflections:
“The Younited trip to Hamburg was a deeply personal and transformative experience that touched the core of my beliefs about dialogue and coexistence.”
“This journey was not without its challenges. There were heated debates about the war and the broader conflict. However, through these difficult conversations, we recognized the immense responsibility we carry..”
“Being in Europe, engaging with impressionable students, and sharing our commitment to coexistence was both humbling and inspiring. For each of us, it reaffirms why Younited is so important and the privilege we feel to be alumni.
“The German students were amazed that there exists a school dedicated to creating a shared space for Arab and Jewish students from Israel, and also internationals. It showed them that there is hope and a shared desire here for a better future.”
“If we, as 16-year-olds, could live harmoniously and coexist in a boarding school that brought together diverse youth from Israel and all over the world, there is indeed hope for broader peace.”
